On September 16, 2008, the annual Crime is Toast breakfast will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center to recognize the achievements and courageous actions of the Atlanta Police Department.  The awards ceremony and tribute to the men and women in blue is always a very moving experience for the business and community leaders in attendance as well as a significant morale boost for the officers.   

The Crime is Toast Breakfast is one of two signature events of the Atlanta Police Foundation.  The breakfast includes a "state of public safety" address where both Mayor Shirley Franklin and Atlanta Police Chief Richard Pennington give an annual report on crime in this city.  Dave Wilkinson, President & CEO of the Foundation will outline the programs that have been implemented to enhance the ability of the APD to reduce crime and prepare for emergencies.
