Training
Police, Fire, EMS, and 911 personnel train together in realistic scenarios to improve coordinated emergency response.

The Atlanta Public Safety Training Center is a new state-of-the-art training facility where Atlanta’s police officers, firefighters, EMTs, 911 staff, and other public safety professionals can train together in one place using modern equipment and real-world scenarios. It is designed to help Atlanta’s public safety teams work better together, respond more effectively, and better serve the community.
By giving Atlanta’s public safety professionals a dedicated place to train together, the center helps strengthen coordination, readiness, and response across agencies. It is a long-term investment in safer service, stronger leadership, and a higher standard of public safety for the people of Atlanta. Support for this initiative is provided through the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Public Safety Training Foundation (APSTF).
A Public Safety and Community Asset
The center is located in the South River region of DeKalb County, on 85 acres of land owned by the City of Atlanta. Because of its ecological importance, this area has been identified as one of the “Lungs of Atlanta,” and the city remains committed to preserving it through responsible stewardship now and into the future.
Input from surrounding neighborhoods and guidance from community members across Atlanta have been important to the project’s development. Recommendations from community groups helped shape key plan improvements, including relocating entry points to improve neighborhood traffic flow, increasing sound barriers to reduce noise, memorializing past uses of the land, and ensuring inclusive trail access.
