Recruitment & Retention Incentives
The Atlanta Police Foundation supports the Atlanta Police Department’s ability to recruit and retain officers by offering targeted incentives and bonuses. These efforts help ensure the department remains fully staffed, allowing officers to respond effectively, stay supported in their work, and continue keeping Atlanta safe.

Atlanta Police Leadership Institute
The Atlanta Police Leadership Institute (APLI) is a five‑tier leadership program designed to prepare officers for greater responsibility throughout their careers. Through practical training and real‑world experience, APLI develops confident leaders who serve Atlanta with professionalism and sound judgment.

Tuition Reimbursement & Scholarship Program
The Tuition Reimbursement and Scholarship Program supports APD officers as they pursue higher education. By investing in continued learning, the program helps develop knowledgeable leaders, strengthens long‑term commitment to the department, and prepares officers to meet the evolving demands of public safety.

Child Care Support Program
The Child Care Support (CHIP) Program helps APD officers manage the cost of childcare by providing a stipend of up to $400 per month for one child under the age of five. By supporting officers’ families, the program allows officers to stay focused at work, remain committed to the department, and continue serving Atlanta with stability and care.

Life Insurance
APD, in partnership with Peachtree Presbyterian Church, provides a $100,000 life insurance policy for every sworn officer. This benefit helps ensure officers’ families are cared for in the event of a line‑of‑duty death and reflects APF’s commitment to supporting officers and their loved ones beyond the job.

Mounted Patrol Unit Support
These officers and their horses help keep Atlanta safe—using their height to see over crowds and their ability to move through busy areas where cars can’t go, especially during large events.
While they also help officers connect with the community, their main job is safety: helping officers see more, move more easily, and respond quickly when crowds get big.
