The @Promise Center was created by the Atlanta Police Foundation to help youth ages 12–24 make positive choices and build brighter futures. It provides a safe place to go, along with support for challenges at home, at school, or in their community.
The goal is to help prevent youth crime by removing barriers and creating opportunities for success through intervention, diversion, and prevention services. Today, the center serves more than 1,000 young people each year across Atlanta.
Looking ahead, @Promise plans to expand support for college, career pathways, and mental health—continuing to change lives and help make neighborhoods safer.
APF Cadet Program
The APF Cadet Program is a 21‑week workforce and leadership development program for college students ages 18–21.
Through academy‑style training, hands‑on exposure to APD operations, and community service with At‑Promise, the program creates meaningful pathways into law enforcement and public service.
The Cadet Program also helps build discipline, responsibility, and job readiness, serving as an important bridge between young people and public safety careers.
Police Athletic League (PAL)
The Police Athletic League (PAL) creates opportunities for young people and police officers to connect in positive, meaningful ways. By spending time together outside of crisis situations, youth are able to see officers as mentors and role models, while officers build genuine relationships within the community.
Through these connections, PAL supports youth development, encourages positive decision‑making, and helps strengthen long‑term relationships between young people and the officers who serve their neighborhoods.
