The Mounted Patrol recently visited City View Scholars Academy for Community Helpers Day! Some youth had the chance to meet the officers and horses while learning about the important roles people play in keeping Atlanta safe. Mounted Patrol officers use specially trained horses to support large events, assist in crowd control, patrol city parks, and serve as approachable ambassadors of public safety. Their presence helps bridge connections with the community while keeping neighborhoods secure. This quarter, senior leaders from city, state, and federal law enforcement agencies met to address repeat offenders, who are connected to nearly 24% of all felony arrests in the city. Their impact on public safety has made them a top priority for law enforcement efforts. The Repeat Offender Commission (ROC) reviewed cases such as that of Willie Holt, recently arrested for aggravated assault. His case underscores the importance of cross-agency collaboration to close loopholes, improve warrant management, and strengthen judicial strategies that prevent repeat offenders from returning to our communities. Mr. Holt, who has 25 prior arrests and six felony convictions, is now being held without bond. Together, these agencies are working to confront systemic gaps, enhance transparency, and ensure accountability. ATLANTA, GA – More than 1,200 runners alongside Atlanta Police officers, firefighters, youth athletes, corporate teams, and public safety supporters will take over the streets of downtown Atlanta on Saturday, Aug. 16, for the return of Atlanta’s Finest 5K.

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) announces its Childcare Incentive Program (CHIP), which provides eligible Atlanta Police Department officers with up to $400 per month in childcare assistance for newborns to age five.
