(June 2, 2025) — The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) has launched its largest summer internship program in years, welcoming around 17 interns, the largest class to date.
Since its inception, the foundation’s summer internship program has offered students hands-on experience in public safety initiatives, community engagement and internal operations. However, this year marks a significant milestone with the grand opening of the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.
APF is hosting these interns across several key departments, including Events, Marketing, Officer Support, and Repeat Offender Programs. Participants will assist in planning events, supporting marketing campaigns, analyzing crime data, promoting officer wellness and helping maintain daily operations at the newly opened training center.
During orientation, interns introduced themselves to staff, observed meetings, toured the office and heard encouraging words from APF CEO, Dave Wilkinson, preparing them to contribute effectively to the public safety initiatives.
“When you begin your work, remember that it’s all about supporting the community and making our city safer,” said Wilkinson. “We do this by supporting the Atlanta Police Department, which benefits the community overall.”
Through this internship, APF is committed to cultivating future leaders and advancing its mission to make Atlanta the safest large city in the nation.
“We hope you take pride in the work you do here,” Wilkinson added. “When you return to your respective universities, we want you to look back on this experience with pride.”
Over the coming months, interns will be fully integrated into the foundation, applying what they have learned in school while driving key projects, building connections and helping strengthen public safety across Atlanta.
