(Aug. 19, 2024) — The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) is pleased to announce the addition of four new interns from Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School as part of the 2024-2025 school year. These talented students were welcomed during Cristo Rey’s highly anticipated Intern Draft Day, held this past Friday.
The event, which brought together over fifty corporate partners including the APF, celebrated students from diverse backgrounds as they received their job placements for the upcoming year.
The Intern Draft Day was an extraordinary occasion, featuring marching bands, circus performers, mascots, and other festive activities that created an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. As a symbolic gesture of their new roles, APF’s interns were presented with police badges and hats, marking the beginning of their journey with us.
Organized by Cristo Rey’s Business Training Institute (BTI), Intern Draft Day is the culmination of a program that prepares students for corporate work-study experiences by emphasizing personal development, business etiquette, and essential office skills.
“We are proud to participate in an initiative that empowers students to translate classroom knowledge into real-world experience,” said Marcus Vellon-Everett, Operations Manager at APF. “We’re excited to welcome these bright young minds to the Atlanta Police Foundation. These students represent the next generation of innovators, and we’re excited to see how their fresh perspectives will contribute to our mission.”
During their time at the APF, the interns will have the opportunity to explore various programs and initiatives that align with their interests and aspirations, building on the skills they’ve developed through BTI.
By integrating them into APF operations, the company aims to inspire their career ambitions and help them uncover their true passions.
“Getting this job was a wonderful surprise, and I’m truly excited,” said one of the interns. “I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”
The Intern Draft Day and the corporate work-study program are vital in providing young people with the opportunity to apply their academic learning to professional environments, setting the stage for future success.
