(March 26, 2025) — The Atlanta Police Foundation’s (APF) Cristo Rey interns recently concluded their internship with a final project titled Project CEO 2025.
The four students delivered a thoughtful presentation divided into four parts: personal introductions, insights from interviews with APF staff, highlights from their internship experience, and a team reflection on their overall journey.
“I was surprised to learn about the program that provides affordable housing for officers. I wasn’t expecting that,” one intern shared. “I always thought corporations focused on making as much money as possible, but you guys genuinely care for the people you’re supporting.”
The Cristo Rey Network’s Corporate Work Study (CWS) program prepares students for professional environments by emphasizing personal growth, business etiquette, and essential office skills. During their time at APF, the interns gained firsthand experience with the organization’s public safety programs and initiatives, building on the skills they initially developed in school.
By integrating the students into day-to-day operations, APF aimed to inspire their career ambitions and help them discover their passions, whether in public safety or beyond.
“As a young person, you owe it to yourself to explore a diversity of ideas and assignments to open your mind to what you truly want to do,” said Dave Wilkinson, CEO of APF. “We don’t want you to think we expect you to have it all figured out, because you don’t, and none of us do.”
The interns concluded their presentation by reflecting on what surprised them most about APF, sharing their excitement for future internships, and receiving parting words of encouragement from Mr. Wilkinson.
“The journey from intern to CEO proves that every role is essential to achieving the mission,” Wilkinson emphasized.
The corporate work-study program continues to play a vital role in helping young people apply their academic learning in professional environments, setting the stage for future success.
