Since inception, the program has helped officers purchase homes in Atlanta neighborhoods.

Most officers remain in their homes beyond the five-year commitment period.
The Secure Neighborhoods Program helps Atlanta Police Department officers purchase homes at reduced costs in strategic Atlanta neighborhoods.
When officers can afford to live in the city, APD is better positioned to recruit and retain officers, improve morale, strengthen APD’s culture of community policing, and support safer neighborhoods.
Secure Neighborhoods helps make in-city living more attainable for officers so they can build long-term lives in Atlanta. In return, participating officers serve as neighborhood ambassadors and complete volunteer hours in the communities where they live and serve.
By helping officers live closer to the communities they protect, the program supports:
  • Lower crime
  • Better officer morale
  • Stronger community policing
  • Better recruitment and retention
  • Greater neighborhood stability
  • More volunteer service in Atlanta neighborhoods
Secure Neighborhoods reflects APF’s broader commitment to strengthening officer support and building a safer city through practical, people-centered solutions.
